Text messages reveal accused mushroom killer’s “horrible upbringing”

Texts that alleged triple murderer Erin Patterson sent to a friend have emerged revealing her "horrible upbringing".

The texts were sent shortly after the death of Patterson's mum Heather Scutter in 2019, where she described her mother as "cold" and "weird".

“My mum was ultra weird her whole life,” she wrote.

“We had a horrible upbringing. Mum was essentially a cold robot. It was like being brought up in a Russian orphanage where they don’t touch babies.

"That's what my psych reckons. She said she wishes she could have studied my mum lol."

The messages, obtained by the Herald Sun, also revealed Patterson's lack of connection with her late father Eitan Scutter, who she called "a doormat."

“Dad wanted to be warm and loving to us but mum wouldn’t let him because it would spoil us so he did as he was told,” she said.

“She would shout at him if he did the wrong thing so he became very meek and compliant.

“My sister and I would hide in our room most of the time so we couldn’t do anything wrong.”

These texts have emerged after a former colleague of Patterson described her as “eccentric” and “abrasive”, during her time as an air traffic controller in the early 2000s.

The former colleague also told the Herald Sun that Patterson was highly intelligent and capable as she was able to graduate from the challenging training course and work independently in the field.

“She was rated in the field and was actually responsible for running airspace for a while,” the former colleague told the publication.

“She’s very bright and much brighter than people might think. She managed to get guys wrapped around her little finger although she was very unkempt … and she was abrasive.”

A spokesperson from Airservices Australia had also confirmed that Patterson was employed as an air traffic controller from 12 February 2001 until 28 November 2002.

Patterson has been charged with three counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder, after being accused of serving up a beef Wellington pie that contained death cap mushrooms which resulted in the tragic deaths of Heather Wilkinson, Gail Patterson and Don Patterson.

The attempted murder charges relate to her estranged husband Simon Patterson, and Heather's husband and Baptist church pastor, Ian Wilkinson who miraculously survived but was hospitalised in critical conditions for nearly two months.

Patterson's two children were also in attendance, but did not consume the same meal.

Ian has since been released and attended his wife's memorial in October.

Image: News.com.au / A Current Affair

Accused mushroom killer puts home up for sale

Erin Patterson, the woman charged with eight counts of murder and attempted murder, after allegedly lacing meals with death cap mushrooms, has put her Melbourne property up for sale.

In a case that has gripped the nation, Patterson is facing these charges following the tragic incident that occurred on July 29, as well as historic incidents involving her former husband.

The major incident involved a mushroom lunch hosted in Patterson's home in Leongatha, where her former parents-in-law Don and Gail Patterson, both 70, and Gail’s sister, Heather Wilkinson, 66, died shortly after allegedly consuming a beef wellington.

Heather's husband and Baptist church pastor, Ian Wilkinson, who also had the meal, miraculously survived, but was hospitalised in critical condition for nearly two months before being released in September.

Patterson is also charged with four counts of attempted murder of her former partner, Simon Patterson, in separate incidences between between November 2021 and September 2022 and on the day of the lunch.

She has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Now, her $1 million townhouse in Melbourne's east at the suburb of Mount Waverley has hit the market.

She first bought the three-bedroom, three-bathroom property in 2019, and has infrequently visited it.

It is not the house where the fatal mushroom incident took place.

The 249-square-metre townhouse, will go to auction at 11am on Saturday and is expected to sell for around $960,000 to $1,050,000.

Real estate agency Ray White has pitched the home to downsizers and families that want to send their children to a good school.

“Desired for its defined dimensions and convenient placement in the Mount Waverley Secondary Catchment (STSA), this easy-care townhouse is equally suited to those starting out or downsizing as it is for families and investors,’’ the agents said.

They also provided a description of the townhouse, which read: “Quietly tucked at the rear of only two, the residence takes great care in providing a comfortable lifestyle with the lounge room enriched with large windows, while the dining zone is accompanied by a well-equipped kitchen complete with a Bosch dishwasher.”

Images: Realestate.com.au / A Current Affair

Erin Patterson charged with EIGHT counts of murder and attempted murder

Erin Patterson has been arrested and charged with three counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder following the tragic death cap mushroom incident that occurred on July 29.

The incident in question involved a mushroom lunch that resulted in the death of three people and severe illness in several others. Patterson's arrest and the subsequent investigation have brought this harrowing case to the forefront of public attention.

On Thursday, just after 8am, 49-year-old Patterson was taken into custody by homicide squad detectives and brought to the Wonthaggi police station for questioning. Her Leongatha home was searched extensively with the assistance of Australian Federal Police technology detector dogs, specifically trained to identify items like electronic devices, sim cards and USB drives. As the investigation progressed, the grim reality of the situation emerged.

Following that interview, Patterson was charged with three counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder, and she was remanded in custody to appear at Morwell Magistrates’ Court the following morning.

The murder charges and two of the attempted murder charges are linked to the mushroom lunch incident that took place on July 29. Three victims, Heather Wilkinson, Gail Patterson and Don Patterson, lost their lives after allegedly consuming a beef wellington at Erin Patterson's residence. Heather's husband and Baptist church pastor, Ian Wilkinson, miraculously survived but was hospitalised in critical condition for nearly two months. He was released in September, appearing at his wife's memorial last month.

Patterson's two children were also present during the ill-fated lunch but did not partake in the same meal. The three additional attempted murder charges pertain to separate alleged incidents occurring between 2021 and 2022. According to Victoria Police, a 48-year-old Korumburra man fell ill after consuming meals on these dates. It has been revealed that these charges are related to Patterson's ex-husband, Simon Patterson.

The investigation at Patterson's residence on Thursday was a significant event, as police and their canine units combed through the property. They scrutinised a garage, shed, green bin and car while the trained dogs inspected the premises. Authorities suspect that the symptoms experienced by the diners were consistent with poisoning by death cap mushrooms, a highly toxic variety.

Homicide detectives had previously identified Patterson as a suspect in the case. In her statement to the police, Patterson claimed that she had prepared a beef wellington using button mushrooms from a major supermarket and dried mushrooms from an Asian grocery store. She even stated that she had consumed a portion of the meal and later suffered from severe stomach pains and diarrhoea. This statement contrasts with the detectives' suggestion that she did not experience any ill effects. Throughout the investigation, Patterson has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Images: A Current Affair

Past charges against mushroom poisoning suspect uncovered

Erin Patterson, the woman under investigation for allegedly cooking the deadly mushroom meal that claimed the lives of three people, has previously faced a series of charges after being involved in a drunk-driving incident.

According to reports from The Australian, the 49-year-old was convicted in 2004 of driving drunk in an unregistered vehicle.

Court records have revealed that Patterson, who was then known as Erin Trudi Scutter and was aged 29, faced legal consequences for her reckless actions, losing her license for 30 months after crashing her vehicle in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne while heavily intoxicated.

The reports revealed that after the crash, she fled from authorities by speeding away from the crash scene, reaching 95 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

The convictions that were handed down were for charges of failing to stop a vehicle after an accident, failing to provide identifying information after causing property damage, using an unregistered vehicle on a highway, failing to provide information after property damage, and driving at 95 km/h in a restricted 60 km/h zone.

At the time of the crash, Erin's blood alcohol level was 0.14 per cent, indicating significant impairment, however the charges of drink driving were dropped, potentially due to overlapping elements in other charges.

Patterson has yet to comment on the previous charges, after being advised by her lawyer not to make any public comments as she remains under investigation for the deadly mushroom meal.

She has denied any wrongdoing in the mushroom incident, although according to police, they are investigating Patterson because she was the only adult among five who did not either die or suffer severe illness after ingesting the deadly mushrooms.

Details of Erin Patterson's police statement around fatal mushroom meal revealed

The woman who prepared a mushroom meal that is believed to have caused the deaths of three individuals has finally disclosed her full account of the events that transpired.

According to a written statement submitted to Victoria Police on Friday August 11 – and exclusively obtained by the ABC – Erin Patterson has provided a comprehensive narrative of the incidents leading up to and following the fatal meal.

"I am now wanting to clear up the record because I have become extremely stressed and overwhelmed by the deaths of my loved ones," Ms Patterson said in her statement. "I am hoping this statement might help in some way. I believe if people understood the background more, they would not be so quick to rush to judgement. I am now devastated to think that these mushrooms may have contributed to the illness suffered by my loved ones. I really want to repeat that I had absolutely no reason to hurt these people whom I loved."

The tragic incident occurred in Leongatha, a town southeast of Melbourne, where Ms. Patterson's mother and father-in-law, Don and Gail Patterson, as well as Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson, lost their lives after consuming lunch at Ms. Patterson's residence on July 29. Heather's husband, Ian Wilkinson, was left in critical condition.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have led to speculation within the South Gippsland community, with heightened curiosity as police have been tight-lipped about their ongoing investigation.

Authorities have mentioned that the victims displayed symptoms consistent with the consumption of death cap mushrooms. Although Ms. Patterson was initially treated as a suspect, investigators have maintained an open-minded approach to the case.

In her statement, Ms. Patterson expressed regret for following the advice to give a "no comment" interview to the police in the immediate aftermath of the deaths. She admitted that she now wishes she had answered some questions, given the nightmare that has unfolded since.

The police interview left Ms. Patterson feeling terrified and anxious. She recounted that on the day of the incident, she prepared a beef wellington meal for herself and her elderly guests. Contrary to earlier reports, Ms. Patterson clarified that her children had actually gone to the movies before lunch and were not present during the meal.

According to her statement, she served the meal and allowed her guests to select their own plates. She then had a serving of beef wellington herself. The mushrooms used in the dish were a mixture of button mushrooms from a major supermarket chain and dried mushrooms purchased months earlier from an Asian grocery store in Melbourne.

Ms. Patterson disclosed that her children consumed the leftovers the next evening. Notably, they do not like mushrooms, so she had removed the mushrooms from their portions.

She revealed that she had also suffered from severe stomach pains and diarrhoea after the lunch, leading her to be hospitalised as well. She was administered a liver protective drug via a saline drip and was transferred to Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne.

As her guests fell ill, the Department of Health contacted Ms. Patterson to inquire about the possible cause of the adverse reactions. She provided samples of the leftover meal for examination by hospital toxicologists. She also mentioned sharing information about where she purchased the mushrooms but was unable to pinpoint the specific shop in Melbourne.

Addressing media reports about the seizure of a food dehydrator at a local tip, Ms. Patterson admitted that she had initially lied to investigators about disposing of the dehydrator. She stated that she panicked due to concerns about her children's custody and discarded it.

In her statement, she acknowledged caring for her estranged husband, Simon Patterson, after he suffered a severe stomach illness unrelated to the current incident. She reluctantly nursed him after his hospital discharge and informed him that she did not wish to reconcile. She clarified that Simon had initially intended to attend the fatal lunch but had informed her of his absence prior to the event.

Ms. Patterson expressed deep affection and respect for her parents-in-law and highlighted their positive influence on her children. She offered her willingness to assist the police further, including the possibility of a re-interview.

The police investigation into the deaths remains ongoing, and Ms. Patterson has indicated her readiness to cooperate.

Images: Facebook / A Current Affair

Despite their separation, the two maintain an amicable relationship.

Patterson, aged 48, cooked the fateful lunch which law enforcement suspect might have contained death cap mushrooms.

The mother of two is now under police scrutiny after the demise of her ex-husband Simon Patterson's parents, Gail and Don Patterson, as well as Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson.

Heather's husband, Ian, is currently in critical condition at Melbourne's Austin Hospital and is awaiting a liver transplant.

All four individuals exhibited symptoms consistent with death cap mushroom poisoning following the lunch, which occurred on July 29.

Ms Patterson has consistently maintained her innocence, expressing that she held strong affection for her in-laws, particularly considering Gail's role as a motherly figure. Police have also characterised the case as intricate and potentially devoid of malicious intent.

Death cap mushrooms possess the potential to cause grave damage to the liver and kidneys, leading to fatality. Symptoms include abdominal discomfort vomiting, and nausea, yet much of the harm can transpire before symptoms surface.

Ms Patterson herself remained unaffected by the luncheon she organised, and her two children have been taken into protective custody as a preventive measure, according to police statements.

Detective Inspector Dean Thomas of the Homicide Squad indicated that authorities are yet to determine whether they are dealing with a potential crime or an unfortunate accident.

Images: Facebook / A Current Affair

Erin Molan dishes on her worst ever date

Erin Molan raised eyebrows when she made the unique decision to wed herself as part of a 2Day FM radio stunt, but if new insight into her dating history is anything to go by, her bold move may not be quite so surprising after all.

Speaking to Confidential, Erin - who is known for keeping tight-lipped when it comes to her romantic pursuits - spilled the details on some of the worst dates she’s ever had the displeasure of being on.

When asked if she could recall the bottom of the barrel experiences, Erin was quick to answer “yeah, my God. How much time do you have?”

“I once went on a date with a bloke while I was working at Channel 9 in Willoughby, years ago,” the former Channel 9 sports presenter went on to explain.

“He came and picked me up, and we went to a restaurant in Paddington. It was awful and awkward, one of those times when you know straight away that you’ve got zero interest.”

She went on to reveal that she’d tried her best to bring the evening to an early end, informing her date that she had to be up early for work the following day. She accepted a lift home from him, but things took a turn for the uncomfortable when they missed their turn over the Harbour Bridge.

“I kid you not,” she said, “he asked me for money for the extra toll.”

And while Erin handed over the cash, she certainly “never spoke to him again”.

A second unsuccessful romantic pursuit began in Hawaii, when Erin crossed paths with a Brisbane truck driver she believed could be her “future husband”. However, that dream was short-lived, with their flame fizzling upon their return to Australia.

As Erin recalled, “I remember getting to his place, sitting on the couch with his housemate, and he couldn’t even look at me.”

Despite her poor encounters, Erin dipped her feet back into the dating pool in 2022, but as of 2023 is single again - and she isn’t mad about it.

“I don’t think you could pay me enough to entice me to date right now,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

“The thought of it - I’m not going to say it would make me physically ill - but my focus is being the best mum I can be and getting myself into a really good place. That takes a lot of work.”

Images: Instagram

"I didn't want to do this": The truth behind Erin Molan’s surprise solo wedding

TV and radio presenter Erin Molan has made her way down the aisle in lavish style to marry herself.

Escorted by her four-year-old daughter, Erin took the plunge as part of a radio event for her 2DAY FM show Hughesy, Ed and Erin. And although Erin was the most highly publicised bride present, she wasn’t the only one to vow forever to herself, with a whole host of other solo brides 'marrying’ right alongside her.

And although Erin was all smiles on the day - and in every picture to come out of the event - she hadn’t always been so thrilled about the whole spectacle. Sharing a video of her ‘wedding day’ to social media, Erin used her caption to explain the heartache that had been weighing on her, and how her young daughter’s enthusiasm helped her put her best foot forward.

“I’m going to be completely honest… I didn’t want to do this… at all,” she wrote. “We came up with this concept late last year because so many of our listeners were single mums/unmarried/unlucky in love/unhappy in their relationships and we just thought WHY wait until you’ve met the one… just marry yourself.”

Erin went on to explain that she’d never believed in “self love and all of that” before, and she “didn’t know what was to come when I agreed… and then we lost dad… and one of the million things that broke my heart about that was the realisation that he’d never be able to walk me down the aisle…

“I’ve never dreamt of a wedding and it’s never really been that important to me… but the thought of even doing it for a radio segment, without him, made me feel sick… and I nearly pulled out so many times.

“I didn’t want to be emotional and ruin it for all the beautiful and excited listeners who were doing the same thing and are so far ahead of me in realising that the greatest love of all has to be the love you have for yourself.”

She admitted to feeling “a bit embarrassed”, as she had never expected to be a 39-year-old single mum.

“It was actually my 4 year old who got me over the line,” she noted. “I told her about it and she was more excited than I’ve ever seen her… and that helped me immensely.

“I actually had a ball, [and I] am so grateful for my radio family and the beautiful listeners who inspire me every single morning. I love you all”.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Erin Molan (@erin_molan)

And as with celebration of love, Erin’s friends and fans wanted to join in, stopping by her comment’s section to share their support for her bold move.

“Very moving. Harry Potter star reveals huge family update

Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter movies, has confirmed he and long-term partner and fellow actor Erin Darke are expecting their first child together.

The couple - who have been together for 10 years - confirmed the news to People through a representative after they were spotted out and about in New York City, with Darke sporting her baby bump.

And as a source told news.com.au, “they have kept it pretty quiet until now but she can’t hide her bump anymore.”

The same source revealed that Radcliffe is thrilled about becoming a father, telling them that “[he] is so excited to be a dad. His relationship with Erin is really special and everyone thinks they will be amazing parents.”

In October, Radcliffe actually spoke to Newsweek about what he wanted for his children, “if and when they exist”, and how he hoped to see him on film sets - something that he may now have every opportunity to experience.

“A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like, 'God, you know, I'd love to be in the art department. I'd love to be something in the crew;,” Radcliffe explained. "Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids.

“But it's really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs."

Something that Radcliffe and Darke know all too well, with their years working in film and TV. Something the two have experienced together on more than one occasion - as well as starring in Don’t Think Twice, the two also worked together on the third season of Radcliffe's Miracle Workers.

Radcliffe described the latter as something that “was incredibly special and felt lovely”, but wasn’t likely to become something they would do regularly, adding that “we definitely like [working together], but it's not something we want to do all the time.”

The couple met in 2012 while filming Kill Your Darlings, and although they primarily keep their relationship private, Radcliffe has discussed what it was like to first get to know each other, once confessing in an interview that it would be “a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other.

"Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting."

The 33-year-old admitted in another interview that he felt an immediate attraction to Darke, and that “there’s a moment when she makes me laugh, and I’m laughing as me and not as my character.

“She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble.”

Despite the length of their partnership, and multiple rumours that they have gotten engaged - or in more extreme stories, married - Radcliffe’s focus remains on maintaining the strong friendship they’ve forged, especially as they look ahead to their thrilling new chapter.

“I think that’s the kind of relationship I always aspire to have with someone I’m in a relationship with,” Radcliffe explained. “You want that person to be your best friend. In the case of Erin, we definitely are.”

Images: Getty

Erin Molan collapses on-air during spider encounter

A creepy crawly encounter on 2Day FM’s Breakfast Show ended in dramatic scenes when presenter Erin Molan fainted, prompting co-host Hughesy to call for an emergency ad break.

Molan had been facing her fear of spiders along with Linda, an arachnophobic listener, with footage of the segment showing the media personality shrieking in terror and falling to the floor.

“We’re about to have spiders put on us,” Molan told the camera before a small tarantula was released beside her and its handler advising her and Linda to “breathe” and “stay calm”.
<blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; Erin Molan awarded hefty payout from defamation case win

Erin Molan has won her defamation case against Daily Mail Australia, after a Federal Court found the online newspaper defamed her by alleging she was racist in an article.

The sports journalist sued the Daily Mail for defamation last year, saying an article and two tweets by the news site falsely portrayed her as racist because of her mispronunciation of Polynesian names.

In the verdict, Justice Robert Bromwich found both sides had both a “measure of success and a measure of failure”, as he found both Erin and the publication made mistakes.

Daily Mail Australia must pay the Sky News host $150,000 plus interest in damages, including aggravated damages for the online article.

Justice Bromwich said the sum was “substantial” for “closely interrelated and unwarranted online slurs, sufficient for any ordinary person to be well and truly satisfied that they were untrue and should never have been published”.

“I consider this sufficiently meets the sting of the article as reflected in the imputations,” he said.

“Dailymail.com needs to substantially improve the care that it takes, or face further and greater awards of damages. Freedom of expression must be balanced with responsibility and basic professionalism which was sadly lacking in this case.”

The Mail’s story was based on Molan saying “hooka looka mooka hooka fooka” when referring to a Polynesian sportsperson on the show in May 2020.

During the trial, the publisher argued the imputations carried were true – and Molan had demonstrated a “pattern” of racist comments in her time at 2GB’s Continuous Call Team program.

Justice Bromwich is allowing Molan to be heard on an injunction to take down the Daily Mail article, which was the basis of the defamation case, if it had not already been removed.

He said the Daily Mail should “sensibly and promptly” take down the article if it had not already done so.

"He's basically a pig": Erin Molan and Piers Morgan slam Kyrgios

Erin Molan and Piers Morgan have called out the court-side antics of Nick Kyrgios, after he was slammed for his behaviour at Wimbledon.

After Kyrgios' first round win, he spoke of his frustration with a line judge and admitted to spitting in the direction of a disgruntled spectator, as well as eating sushi throughout an explosive post-match press conference.

Appalled by his actions, Piers Morgan condemned his behaviour in an interview with Erin Molan on Sky News’ Piers Morgan Uncensored.

Morgan vented, “He’s basically a pig he’s eating his food as he talks to the media, he abuses a female lineswoman, he abuses an elderly linesman, he abuses the crowd, he spits at one of them."

“The man is out of control. Can you put up any defence for this antipodean monster?”

Molan agreed with his comments, saying, “Piers, there's plenty of Australians who think he's in an absolute tool as well.

“I’ve been one of his most vocal critics for a very long time.”

“But I'll tell you what, the spitting even towards someone in their direction is appalling,” she continued.

“The abuse of anyone in their workplace is appalling, the hypocrisy that he displays is completely appalling."

“He replied to someone on social media overnight that had taken him to task over this and said, ‘Oh, but I would never go into your workplace and abuse you.’"

“Does he think the linesmen are volunteers? That's their workplace he's abusing them.”

Following the incident at Wimbledon, Nick Kyrgios defended his actions as he believed he did nothing wrong.

He went on to say it was unfair that the audience was allowed to shout things at the tennis star and he couldn't respond.

“That’s fine. But if I give it back to you, then that’s just how it is," he said.

“There’s a fence there and I physically can’t do anything or say anything because I’ll get in trouble. They’re able to say anything they want.”

Erin Jayne Plummer’s daughter broke hearts at their mum’s funeral as they recalled their favourite memories with her.

The television presenter tragically took her own life on May 22 at the young age of 42, leaving behind a husband and three young daughters.

She was best known for hosting advertorials on morning show Studio 10 as well as shopping channel TVSN.

Friends and family gathered at the Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens and the Dee Why RSL on Sydney’s northern beaches on Thursday to remember the beloved host.

The event was live streamed to accommodate those who could not make it in person which saw loved ones fondly recall the bubbly, loud, enthusiastic, loving person Erin was.

However, it was her daughters who stole the show with their heartbreaking words, missing their beloved mother.

First was Erin’s middle daughter who performed her own interpretation of Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.

“Each day that passes I still don’t believe that she’s gone,” Erin’s eldest daughter, 15, said.

“That a family of three girls will grow up without our mum. This is the thought I can’t seem to get over.

“Mum was loved by everyone. She was selfless and gave her everything to take my sisters and I to 40 activities each week.

“She brought so much light to the world that we didn’t realise her heart was in so much pain.”

“Mum, I hope heaven treats you better than we ever could. She’s not ours anymore but we are hers forever.”

Erin’s youngest daughter then went on to recall her cherished moments with mother.

“My mum was the best person ever. I will always love you dearly mum,” she said.

“I can’t say much because she was so awesome and amazing. You were the key of the whole galaxy and world and all of the country to me.

“My favourite three things I liked doing with mum was going on a morning walk, having lots of hugs and kisses and cooking because once we were cooking and I spilt flour all over the table and I didn’t get in trouble.

“Me and my mum are such a great team. Her beautiful eyes shimmering in the sun was always so cool.

“I will never ever forget about my mum. I love her so much that I am even crying at my school.”

Erin’s mother then went on to say how Erin made every room she walked in brighter and her little interaction with Prince Harry when she was just 17.

“From down-and-out people to Prince Harry, who was delightfully entertained by our Erin when she was 17,” she said.

Erin ran into Prince Harry at Circular Quay and began to perform magic tricks which saw him “captivated”.

“When Erin walked into a room it was as if 20 more light bulbs were switched on,” she went.

“To our precious darling daughter Erin ... thank you for your unconditional love for us and for everything you have done for us.

“You gave it your best. Can’t ask for more than that. Until we meet again ... on this side or the other side of the vale, we love you with all our heart and soul.”

Her father said he would miss seeing his daughter’s smile and her rushing in and out of the house.

“I’ll miss her running in and out of home,” he said.

“She’d run in the door, you listened, she talked. She’d grab a pickled onion out of the fridge every day, and say, ‘see ya, dad’.

“They used to say she could talk under water with a mouth full of marbles.

“Erin was loud. Look at all the photos and try to find one where her mouth was closed.”

Finally, it was Erin’s husband Alan’s turn to remember his late wife, saying his daughter’s will continue her legacy.

“To me and the girls you weren’t just a TV presenter, you were the best TV presenter,” he said.

“I’ll never forget your selfless devotion to our three angels. Since you’ve left us there are some things I want you to know.

“I want you to know we’ve had the mattresses laid out together and we’ve all been sleeping together.

“I wanted you to know how I see your legacy living on forever through our three angels.

“I hope you’re in heaven forever, eating your red frogs.”

The ceremony then ended with Erin’s middle daughter tearing up as she sang Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.

Image: Facebook
